Each student should receive 14 weekly lessons during the full Fall or Spring semester. Students should receive 5 weekly lessons if taking lessons during the Winter and Summer sessions (MUSC 155). It is the student’s responsibility to give a copy of his/her schedule to the private study instructor on or before Advisement Day. Forms are available in the Music Office.
University field trips, family emergency and illness constitute the only legitimate reasons for missing a lesson. Except for an emergency, the student should notify the instructor or Music Office of the lesson to be missed well in advance of the lesson.
A lesson missed by the student, for a reason other than the above, does not have to be made up by the instructor and may be grounds for lowering the student’s final grade by 1/14 (7%).
A lesson missed by the instructor shall be made up at a time mutually convenient to the instructor and the student.
A lesson missed because of a legitimate reason may be made up at the instructor’s prerogative
